MCA Annual Symposium on Alcohol & Health
The Medical Council on Alcohol will hold its 2026 Annual Symposium on Alcohol and Health on 18 November 2026 at the Royal College of Physicians, London. The programme will cover key topics for clinicians, researchers and policy makers, including Alcohol Dependence Syndrome, psychosocial and pharmacological therapies for Alcoholic Liver Disease, the UK Clinical Guidelines for alcohol treatment and alcohol and mental health co‑morbidities. This year’s Max Glatt Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Prof John Holmes. As usual there will be plenty of time for networking and sharing experiences with other professionals working in the alcohol and health field.

One of the MCA’s main areas of activity is supporting health professionals in training and education across all disciplines and specialties.
We offer a range of educational activities including regular competitions, an annual Symposium on alcohol and health and a network of Regional Advisors across UK medical schools.
