Alcohol and Pregnancy

It is known that alcohol consumed in pregnancy can result in significant harm to the foetus. However there is no absolute consensus on how much - if any – alcohol is completely safe in pregnancy in terms of risks to the foetus, and in many cases alcohol may have been consumed by women prior to discovering that they are pregnant.  The UK Chief Medical Officers advise that women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should avoid all alcohol, to keep risks to a minimum.

The competition is to design an educational poster for the general public on the topic of alcohol and pregnancy.  The posters need to be in JPEG format and high resolution to size (300dpi).

The MCA will print the winning posters on A2 and there will be an exhibition of these posters at the MCA Annual Symposium.

The biennial MCA National Alcohol Awareness Day competition will open on 1st March 2019 and entries must be received by 31st July 2019.  It is open to UK medical and nursing students.
